CRAFT: Reference-Guided Surface-Addressed Texture Generation for Composable 3D Assets

Abstract

While progress in native 3D texture generation can complete appearance beyond an observed view, existing texture generators often suffer from appearance bleeding when distinct geometric parts touch or intersect. This is because spatial voxelization can aggregate texture samples from multiple surfaces into a single texture state. Reference-image conditioning introduces a second ambiguity: features observed on a visible surface may be incorrectly transferred to nearby or occluded surfaces that share the same voxel. We introduce CRAFT, a native 3D texture-generation framework that augments each voxel coordinate with a discrete surface identity derived from UV-chart connectivity. This surface address preserves independent texture features for different surfaces throughout encoding, generation, and decoding. We further introduce visibility-routed reference conditioning, to establish accurate correspondence between visible surface tokens and reference-image features according to surface address and visibility. These designs preserve surface-level texture correspondence while retaining the efficiency of a sparse voxel-based representation. As a result, CRAFT reproduces the reference appearance more faithfully while reducing cross-surface color leakage and keeping distinct surface regions more clearly separated for component-level editing, separation, and recombination.
